Sheikh Sadi was a great poet. He was also a very wise as well as a pious man. Sheikh Sadi is believed to be a saint at that time. Once Seikh Sadi was going to the court of the king of Iran, and on his way, the night fell. At first, Seikh Sadi was not sure what to do as It was very dark outside. Finally, after thinking for a while, Sheikh Sadi decided not to go to the court on that night. Then he took shelter in a rich man’s house. At that time, he had a very simple dress on. The people of that house did not deal well with that poet as he was not looking so good. They showed disrespect and dishonour to him. The poet left the house in a gloomy mood. A few days later, he went there again with a rich dress on. They warmly received him. This time he was respected and honored by them. They gave him rich food to eat. Sheikh Sadi did not eat the food. But he began to put the food in his pocket. Seeing it the rich man was astonished. He asked the poet about his mysterious behaviour. Then the poet said this food is for my dress but not for me. When I was poorly dressed, I was not treated in the same manner. The rich man was unfortunate for this. He begged forgiveness from the poet. Sheikh Saddi forgave the rich man and thus taught him a good lesson. A man is known by his behaviour, nature and what is within him not by his dress or wealth. Then Sheik Sadi left the place with self-satisfaction.
