USES & ABUSES OF COMPUTERS

Computers are incredibly useful tools that have become essential in our daily lives. In Bangladesh, students use computers for various purposes such as research, learning, and communication. They can access a vast amount of information online, helping them with their studies and expanding their knowledge. Computers also enable students to communicate with teachers and classmates easily through emails or messaging apps, making collaboration and learning more efficient. Additionally, computers are used for creating presentations, writing assignments, and practising skills through educational software. However, there are also abuses associated with computers that students need to be aware of. One common abuse is spending too much time on non-educational activities like gaming or social media, which can distract students from their studies and affect their academic performance. Another abuse is plagiarism, where students copy information from the internet without giving proper credit to the source. This not only undermines the value of their work but also goes against academic integrity. To make the most of computers while avoiding abuses, students in Bangladesh should practice responsible computer usage. They can set limits on their screen time, prioritize educational activities over entertainment, and always cite sources when using information from the internet. By using computers wisely, students can harness the power of technology to enhance their learning experience and succeed academically.

This is particularly relevant in Bangladesh, where a survey confirmed that the digital divide has had a devastating impact on children’s learning during the pandemic. In conclusion, while computers have the potential to revolutionize education in Bangladesh, it is crucial to ensure that their use is beneficial and equitable.
